Diamond saw blade is mainly composed of two parts:  matrix  and  cutter head .


1. Matrix


The matrix is the supporting part of the diamond saw blade, which mainly plays the following roles:


Support the cutter head and fix it to the saw blade.

Transfer cutting force.

Heat dissipation.


The base material is usually a variety of alloy steel, such as manganese steel, high-speed steel and so on. Alloy steel has high strength, toughness and wear resistance, and can withstand shock and vibration during cutting.


The shape and size of the matrix have an important effect on the performance of the diamond saw blade. The shape of the matrix is common round, square, polygon and so on. The size of the matrix includes outer diameter, inner diameter, thickness, etc.


2. Knife head


The cutting head is the cutting part of the diamond saw blade, which is mainly composed of diamond particles and metal binders. Diamond particles are the main abrasive of the tool head, with extremely high hardness and wear resistance. The role of the metal binder is to fix the diamond particles together and form a certain strength and toughness.


The shape and size of the cutter head also have an important effect on the performance of the diamond saw blade. The shape of the tool head is commonly trapezoid, fan, waveform and so on. The dimensions of the tool head include width, height, thickness, etc.


There are mainly the following types of diamond saw blades:


 Sintered diamond cutting head:  Mixed diamond particles and metal powder evenly, pressed and sintered under high temperature and pressure.

 Welding diamond head:  Welding the diamond head on the metal matrix.

 Electroplated diamond head:  The diamond particles are electroplated on the metal matrix.


The quality of diamond saw blade mainly depends on the quality of the cutter head. The quality of the tool head mainly depends on the following factors:


 Diamond particle quality:  diamond particle hardness, strength, particle size, shape, etc., will affect the performance of the tool head.

 Quality of metal binder:  Strength, toughness, wear resistance of metal binder will affect the performance of the tool head.

The production process of the tool head will affect the degree of binding of diamond particles and metal binders, as well as the consistency of the shape and size of the tool head.
